A route among quiet Western Wainwright fells, with many route choices to make, and sometimes needing careful navigation.

After Hudson Place, the off-piste route to Burnbank Fell from the ford is hard work when the bracken is high. It would be more runnable to go north to Iredale Place, South West to the access land, then South East along the footpath. When the footpath turns East, leave it and find your own way up grassy slopoes to the summit.

Blake Fell and Gavel Fell are then reached by simply keeping to the ridge.

A straight line from Gavel Fell to Hen Comb might be possible after a long period of dry weather, but the route shown is along paths and drier. Hen Comb to Melbreak could also be a straight line if Mosedale Beck was low, otherwise cross at the footbridge 500 m south. The route down the North end of Melbreak is a joy.

After a passage on minor roads, the route up Raven Crag and on to Fellbarrow needs careful navigation, staying on the higher land if you want to avoid wet feet.  The return to Loweswater is along a large track.
